A Costly Sunday Crash at Mandalika
During the 2026 Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika, Fermin Aldeguer suffered a race-ending fall while fighting for a podium position. The accident resulted in a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal in his right hand, abruptly halting what had been a strong weekend at a venue where he celebrated victory in 2025.
Surgical Recovery and the Malaysian Stand-In
The injury required corrective hand surgery, ruling the rider out of round 19 at Sepang. Because of the ongoing recovery timeline, Fermin Aldeguer Ruled Out of Malaysian GP as Iker Lecuona Deputises at Sepang after the 2026 WorldSBK runner-up previously filled the seat in Australia. Hand fractures impose severe physical limitations under heavy braking zones, leaving the team to rely on Lecuona once again on the number 54 entry.
